Message from our President

Robbie Murray

My name is Robbie, I am 11 years old and I have Crohn's disease. There are a lot of kids living with Crohns and Ulcerative Colitis. Some kids feel better when they take a pill, I feel better after I have my drug infusion.

Some kids need the same medicine I do but they can't afford it and their families don't have a drug plan to help.

WE WANT TO HELP! All the kids with Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis who need expensive drug treatment should be allowed to have it.

Me, my family and friends started Robbie's Rainbow to help kids, who can't afford their drug treatments, get the drug care they really need. The money we raise helps families access the care their children need. I want every kid with Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis to feel as healthy and happy as I do!

Please help me find the "pot-of-gold" at the end of our rainbow!

My wife and I would like to thank you for helping our daughter receive her treatment last week. Our daughter has not been well for some time, we pray that this medicine will help her feel better and control her Ulcerative Colitis. The past 4 months have been very difficult for my family. My wife was in a terrible accident and has been off work, trying to recover through intense physiotherapy. She is very lucky and will be able to walk again, but the stress on my little girl has not helped her Colitis. The help from Robbie's Rainbow has been a real blessing, I feel like I can take a breath and just focus on my family. Thank you to everyone who helps your charity, you have helped my little angel so much. We will always remember your kindness.

Robbie's Rainbow, we are so thankful and grateful for your efforts, people like you give life a different meaning! Thank you for covering my daughter's Remicade costs, I could never have managed on my own and I'd hate to think about where that would have left us. Thanks again we really appreciate the amazing work you do and the beautiful people you are! Have great day and may God bless you all.

This is truly amazing!! What you and others have done for us, words cannot express it enough. For us to be able to go to Sick Kids and not have to worry about another addition to our credit feels great. Hopefully we will get the EAP coverage in the next little while as we won't be back until June. I will defiantly keep you posted. Thanks for everything!

My son has had Crohn's for eight years and after trying everything that was available it was decided to try Remicade or the next step would be surgery. This treatment was to start right away and with a hefty price tag the immediate thought was "how can we afford this" and then "he has to have this medication".

Our nurse coordinator at Sick Kids immediately put us in touch with Kate at Robbie's Rainbow in April 2011. Through her kind and encouraging e-mails we were guided each step of the way through the application in a clear and concise process. We were fortunate to receive some immediate support so our focus could be on my son's health and not the money we needed for it.

It was an amazing stress reliever and such a relief to have support from someone who understood the complications and uglier sides of this disease; unlike other avenues of financial support there were no hoops and no "red tape" delays. We were greeted with compassion, empathy, consideration and care.

Now my son is receiving treatment and we can focus on all life throws at a teenager, work towards his future and plan for a hopeful life that has less fear and daily upsets.
